Nothing Happened. Two simple words that can hide a lot.

There's something unsettling about a face that seems to carry a story it refuses to tell. Her eyes give nothing away so perhaps nothing really happened. Perhaps everything did.

For those who want something that stays with you long after you've looked away.

The story behind this piece

This piece began as another exploration of unusual anatomy, textures and intense colour. But as the image developed, I became more interested in the expression than the visual elements surrounding it.

There's a sense of shame or withdrawal in her face, although I've deliberately left the reason unexplained. The title came from the idea of trying to convince yourself that something never happened, even when it continues to affect you.

I wanted to leave that story unfinished. Whatever she's carrying is hers, and the viewer can decide how much of it they want to understand.
